How can we make sure our elected officials are hearing our voices? What can you do to fight for climate justice given the Trump administration and its climate-denying leaders, if you have an hour, two hours, or five hours a week?

Join us for an evening discussing how we will use people power to get our elected officials to act boldly to fight climate change.

Come learn about the fight for a stable climate and even more importantly, about what you can do to help. We will be focusing on state level political lobbying and advocacy, specifically on aggressively updating WA state’s limits for greenhouse gases. You can join a civic action team to lobby our elected officials on climate policy. Eastside, unite!

In July 2016, 350 Seattle and Our Children’s Trust led a hunger strike outside the Capitol Building in Olympia to protest the weak Clean Air Rule that the Dept. of Ecology had proposed. The rule did not require the necessary cuts to pollution that would put us on a path of reducing carbon dioxide to 350 parts per million (ppm), which is the point at which our climate can begin to recover.

Our Children’s Trust (OTC) has since drafted legislation that would update our state’s emissions targets to the necessary levels to achieve climate stability, and also REQUIRE our state to act to achieve these greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.

We need people power to move this legislation forward. We need people power to convince our elected officials that acting on climate change cannot be delayed any longer.
