Shell Oil is looking to add an oil-by-rail facility to its existing refinery in Anacortes, bringing in six oil trains per week and 60,000 barrels per day. Trains on their way to the Skagit County refinery would pass through major cities and towns, including Spokane, Olympia, Tacoma, Everett, and here in Seattle.
In late summer, there will be a public hearing in Seattle on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement, which assesses the risks associated with this project. We need to make sure everyone knows about this opportunity. Let’s stand up, speak out, and say no to this proposal!
