There will be a Walk to Save the Arctic beginning at 1:00 pm at the Alaska Junction to protest Shell’s plans to moor its Arctic drilling fleet there and asking for clean jobs instead. For more detail CCA
The WALK TO SAVE THE ARCTIC, from the Alaska Junction down to the Port, on Sunday starting at 1pm, will show to SHELL that we are keeping an eye on the Polar Pioneer and the other drilling equipment and vehicles they are stacking up in our city.
All attendees of the rally will be encouraged to start a twitter storm right there, explaining why and how they oppose Arctic Drilling, at a hashtag that will be given out at the beginning of the rally. You can send out photos, videos, or just text – anything that gets your point across! The beauty of protesting by walking is that it sets an example: Simply WALK AWAY from fossil fuels!
Since SHELL still wants to drill for oil in the Arctic based out of Seattle, even though they don’t have a legal lease to do so, posters and banners asking to Save The Arctic, kicking SHELL out, and promoting Green Jobs are welcome. We are all about protecting the 100,000 or so jobs in the Seattle fishing and maritime industry from a disastrous oil spill! Plus we can’t wait to get new jobs in renewable energy industries!
