BACKGROUND:
The intersections between racial justice and climate justice are absolutely vital! Communities of color are the most impacted by climate disruption, and the least responsible for it.
These bi-monthly gatherings emerged from 2014 trainings for climate activists led by Dr Heather Hackman on the connections between race, white privilege, and climate justice. Many participants wanted to keep on meeting so that we did not lose momentum, and to broaden the group to include others who hadn’t attended the trainings.
The gatherings are led by volunteers, and designed to help us get to know each other and build relationships; deepen our analysis of the interconnections between race and climate justice; build our skills and effectiveness; and help us hold ourselves and each other accountable in taking positive action for change.
FREE CHILDCARE IS AVAILABLE ON REQUEST.
All are also welcome to planning meetings on the second Monday of the month from 6-8 pm at THS, 1901 Martin Luther King Jr Way S., Seattle WA 98144.
