The world watched last Fall as typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda tore through the Philippines. Thousands died, many many more displaced, and millions of dollars of property and homes destroyed. How does large-scale mining by multinational corporations effect the safety of people in the Philippines? How does hundreds of years of forced underdevelopment of the Philippine economy jeopardize our ecological survival? How can folks passionate about the environment connect with the global movement for liberation?

This event is a fundraiser for the amazing work of progressive Filipin@ groups locally and in the Philippines. Please come ready to make a donation. Your generosity will connect you to this important work being done.

During the workshop you will:
-hear from members of BAYAN PNW of why they do the work they do and how imperialism, feudalism, and capitalism impact the Philippines.
-hear from members of CARW about what it means to be connected as white Americans to anti-racist, anti-imperialist struggles
-participate in interactive exercises to deepen an understanding of environmental racism on a global level
-and more!

This grassroots workshop facilitated in collaboration between Coalition of Anti-Racist Whites, Philippine US Solidarity Organization (PUSO) and BAYAN PNW (a coalition of progressive Filipino groups dedicated to national democracy).
